They do cause a lot of damage. I recall seeing twenty foot yachts and sailboats scattered across the roads near coastal areas after several hurricanes. Many trees get stripped of leaves, power lines down for weeks...

Everyone knows that fuel costs are going up, so if this company just disclosed their extra charges accurately they would be saving tens of thousands right now by avoiding this litigation.

What a shame. These river boats are part of our history and culture. Nowadays most of them are permanently docked, but at least this way we can still enjoy them.

I feel soo sorry for the 300 hostages they took. I hope those foolish pirates are smart enough to keep those hostages alive.

Hopefully the armada of European war ships will be there soon to end this madness.

I didn't even know pirates still existed. I hear they don't look like real pirates, but instead like military combatants.

Linked to this page through the CNN site. The CNN article quotes the Navy as saying:

"Campbell said the Navy does not expect to dispatch a vessel to aide the super tanker because it does not have dangerous weapons aboard like the MV Faina, a Ukrainian ship loaded with arms that was seized by pirates on September 25."

I think a supertanker with 2 million gallons of oil is, by definition, a dangerous weapon.

DUI is a serious offense that puts so many lives at stake. Suspending the license is an important law enforcement rule to make traffic violators realize that they cannot drive irresponsibly as it can lead to fatal accidents.

I Suppose it depends what state you are in. In Florida, we take this sort of thing very seriously. heres the statute:

Accidents Causing Death or Personal Injury (Florida Statute 361.027)

A driver who is involved in an accident that causes any personal injury must remain at the scene of the accident until completing his statutory duties. These duties also include exchanging pertinent information, presenting a driver’s license, notifying law enforcement, and providing reasonable aid to the injured party. A willful violation of this statute results in a felony of the third degree. A third degree felony carries an imprisonment term of up to 5 years, and a possible fine of up to $5,000. Click Here to learn more about the impact of a felony conviction.
If the accident results in a death of any person and the driver willfully fails to comply with this statute, the driver has committed a felony of the first degree. A first degree felony carries a term of imprisonment of up to 30 years, and a fine of up to $10,000.
